A great way to help save money is to create a budget, and then stick to it. Even by just tracking where the money is going, you will be more aware of your spending habits, and eliminate unnecessary spending.

TIP #2 Save Your Receipts

By saving all of your receipts and keeping them together in one place, you will:

  1. Not waste time searching for them or returning to a store for a duplicate receipt
  2. Be able to regularly balance your check register without forgetting any purchases or ATM withdrawals. This will help you avoid overdrawing your account and paying fees.
  3. Have them ready if necessary for tax purposes
  4. Have proof of purchase for returning items
  5. To make your receipts most useful, if the receipt does not name the item purchased, write it in by hand for your reference.
