CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 16, 2012– Cambridge Savings Bank is pleased to announce that Margaret Weir has recently accepted a position as Legal Counsel Officer. In this role, Weir will work on diverse legal matters relating to the business operations of the Bank and report to Steve Coukos, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Bank. Responsibilities include providing direct legal support to the Bank’s various business units and other support centers and assisting with corporate governance and general corporate matters.
Attorney Weir received a Doctor of Jurisprudence and Master of Laws at the Boston University School of Law. In addition to years of bank management and consulting, Weir worked recently with the Texas Legislature as the Executive Director of the House of Representatives committee tasked with monitoring all state activities related to federal stimulus funding. Although Weir grew up in Beaumont, Texas, she is excited to return to Massachusetts to assume her new role at the Bank.
Attorney Weir continues active participation in community service and has been honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award, as well as her Boston University’s School of Law Faculty Award for Community Service. She is working to coordinate a team for Boston University’s Global Day of Service, tutoring youth through Cambridge Tutoring-Plus, recently traveled with a Habitat for Humanity Global Village project in Bolivia, South America, and has been a long-time volunteer with Citizen Schools as a Community Teacher.
